Rhythm & Booze

Rhythm & Booze added an event.

Ten years ago one of the founders of Rhythm & Booze, Chris Bennion, along with a dedicated troop of music lovers dared to dream of a brand new inner city festival, here in the heart of Worcester, raising money and awareness for local charities, with a series of gigs over a three day period. Since then the festival has grown in stature and size, with numerous promoters, venues and volunteers joining a dedicated team, and for one long weekend the heart of city is alive with the sound of music. Worcester Music Festival is celebrating and has invited Rhythm & Booze to once again join the party as they aim to raise money for this years charity, St Paul's Hospice.

Rhythm & Booze, harking back to their days of the infamous Boozestock event and celebrating their 21st Birthday are uniting with the Marrs Bar for an eclectic night of musical mayhem featuring...

Girl Love Ponies-A punchy punk infused rock 'n' roll enigma, who first formed back in 2001 and became firm favourites around the local music scene for their brand of high octane, hook-laden buzzsaw anthems, before calling hiatus around 2006. Since then the band rallied in 2010 for a year long party before parting ways a year later. Having heard mumblings of a reformation, Rhythm & Booze trawled the world (wide web) to offer the band a slot at this years WMF.

Harry & The Howlers-Imagine if you took the essence of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash and Wanda Jackson, stirred in a dose of glamour and a heap of attitude, simmered and transported the bubbling rockabilly concoction to the modern day, you might just get the potent sound of (the Wanda approved) Harry & The Howlers, a four-piece band guaranteed to have your heart racing, your foot stompin' and your voice raised to the rafters as they raise a little hellfire with their insatiable blend of rock 'n' roll.

MeMe Detroit-Birmingham's MeMe Detroit blends an irrisistible mix of 90's influeced grunge and modern day sultry, indie rock to create a unique and engaging sound that's seen MeMe perform with the likes of The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Dead Sea Skulls and Asylums among others whilst courting the attention from the likes of BBC Introducing (who invited MeMe on for an interview and live session and Adam Zindani (of Stereophonics fame) among others, whilst recent single How She Runs can be heard as part of the soundtrack to indie flick My Saviour.

The Boston Shakers-It took all of thirty seconds of one track to convince Rhythm & Booze to offer Liverpool's brightest new band, The Boston Shakers a slot at WMF. The 'Shakers are "an infusion of heavy beats mixed with fuzzy guitars, shaken with raps and garnished with a dash of white noise' and the electro-rock band, originally hailing from the France and the US are already creating major waves with a series of high profile sets around the country, wowing audiences along the way. The Boston Shakers are destined to be huge, don't miss out, this set could be talked about in years to come as one of those 'do you remember, before they were big, they played here in Worcester' bands!

The Whipjacks-Completing the line-up, Worcester's very own alternative speed folk demons, The Whipjacks, a rousing quintet who take their influences from traditional Celtic and English folk, then add the serrated punk edge of the likes of The Dropkick Muphys, Flogging Molly and The Levellers to the mix to create an energetic set of foot-stomping, vocal hollering, dance inducing, no-nonsense set of fun-filled anthems, to send you home with a jig in your step and a hook in your heart...
